Prospective purchaser visits railway
June 17th 2008
One of the proposed purchasers recently visited the railway and had discussions with staff and volunteer representatives.
His particular interest is in freight by rail and he already runs a number of small branch lines in other countries. He has much experience of the rail sector and there are high hopes that a deal will be made in a matter of weeks.
We understand that he is not averse to passenger services on Dartmoor Railway, though clearly these would have to be at weekends, and largely, if not entirely, volunteer run. There are more grounds for optimism now than there has been for several months. It also looks like there will be a definite and increasing need for committed volunteers and support from people willing to join the Friends of Dartmoor Railway.
